Every home has different size windows and features, so in a way, all the windows we install are “custom.”  In general, rectangular or square windows under 101 UI (united inches) are more common.  In older houses or historic homes, you might need more of a “custom solution” to preserve unique shapes, architectural detail, or where you are replacing a bay or bow window or modifying an opening.  No house or homeowner is the same which is why we love what we do for you.

No matter what window you purchase, you will notice a difference right away—especially in room comfort and a reduction of heating and cooling costs.  How much you save, well this is a tricky question.  Each home has many variables: number of windows, window to wall ratios, position of the window (aka north-south-east-west facing), etc.  Savings can vary; however, in general for every .01 in reduction of U-factor, the window is 3% more energy efficient.  Overall, you get the most energy savings from triple pane products as their U-factor is around .20 versus .25 and higher for double pane.
